This being Phase I of the Stony Plain Care Centre re-development opened in April 2006. There is one 30-bed cottage to house residents with Alzheimer's or dementia. The Good Samaritan Southgate Care Centre was built in 1973 with an addition made in 1991. This facility houses three different populations; frail elderly, psycho geriatric illness or developmentally disabled and Alzheimer's type dementia.
